Well… It’s been a week.
Of all the weeks in my life, this was one of them.
Ok, it wasn’t really that bad, but it wasn’t great either. I haven’t mentioned this here before but I deal with periodic bouts of depression and during those times, I eat too much, sometimes drink too much too, I don’t want to do anything at all and typically just feel crappy the whole time. I let little things get to me and I make them bigger in my mind. Needless to say, I have been dealing with one of those bouts this week and it is reflected in my results. Despite that, I did find some time to write a little, work out and do a little development, but not as much as I had hoped when I had looked at the 4 day weekend ahead of me with little planned and hope to accomplish more.
Game Development:
I don’t want to pivot. I don’t want to pivot. I don’t want to pivot.
But…
I have playing a game recently, Erenshor, which is a faithful recreation of old-school MMORPGs in a single player game. I have enjoyed playing it and it started my juicing flowing for creating an open-world RPG that I have always wanted to create and have started several times but never gotten very far at all. Nevertheless, I started poking around with some things and testing some concepts last night with Unity and trying to decide if I want to shelve the dice racing game and pull up one of my old projects and get back to work on it… more to come I guess, but I am not doing a good job at the whole “finishing projects” thing here LOL

Writing:
A little progress here! I spent a couple of hours on Wednesday and churned some words out. Nearly at 10,000 now and also added some details to my plot outline for the future chapters.
Current Word Count: 9,792 (+833)
Podcast (F’ing Up the Ineffable):
Brian and I were not on the same page as to when the next episode was releasing so its not ready yet. It will be released next Thursday (revisiting AI). We are also recording a new episode this Sunday and hopefully we can start to get a few back in the can for the future.
Stats to Date:
Episodes Recorded: 8
Episodes Published: 7
Total Listens All Time (Podcast network/YouTube Long Form/ YouTube Shorts/Total): 152(-) / 93(+2) / 952(-) / 1197(+2)
Music (Mistakes Were Made):
No progress here this week. We didn’t have practice because our practice space (Joe and Kayla’s basement) was unavailable due to HVAC work at their house. Our bassist Martin will be out of the country the next couple of weekends so we won’t really be able to play until after Thanksgiving. I need to use that time to work on learning more parts so that will be my plan.
Songs fully learned: 9
Songs I still need to learn some parts (like solos that I am not very good at): 3
Weight loss / fitness:
Well, good and bad here… The bad first. I ate like crap too much and I couldn’t make myself do the yoga. I think it was the depression or maybe just laziness but I just couldn’t do it. I haven’t given up though. I want to be in better shape and I am going to keep at it.
The good: I started back to regular weightlifting 3x a week including all of the accessories for the first time in a few months. Some of it feels harder than it should but its also the most complete workouts I’ve done in a while. Over 3 days I do
Squats 3x, Rows 2x, Bench 2x, Deadlift, Seated overhead press, triceps extensions, barbell curls and 1-handed lat pull downs.
I also walked twice for a total of about 3km, 2 of which was at night when it was 40-something degrees outside <brr>
My weight is up although the stats say it should have went down a little. It could be that the Fitbit is not as accurate as I would like, or that my food logging isn’t as accurate as it should be, and both of those may be true, but I know from plenty of past experience that eating irregularly (as opposed to consuming about the same number of calories every day) and weightlifting can both cause your body to retain a lot of water than normal. That being said, I am hopeful that another deficit week will show better results on the scale.

Average calories burned per day (via Fitbit): 3194 (-255)
